Last week, our London office was buzzing with energy as we welcomed 13 members of the Chipstead FC U14 Girls’ team – the Scarletts – along with some of their parents, for a special half-term visit.
As proud sponsors of the team, we’ve always wanted our support to go beyond the kit. This event was about opening doors – giving the girls a real-world look at the different career paths in technology, and showing them that the skills they develop on the pitch can serve them far beyond it. One of the key ways to address the imbalance in women in tech, is to inspire the next generation to consider and pursue careers in the technology sector.
The day was split into sessions across Finance and Operations, Marketing, Software Engineering and Technology, and People & Culture / Talent Recruitment.
Each session gave the girls an inside look at what these teams do, and – in true ClearRoute fashion – plenty of chances to get hands-on. They tackled interactive tasks like:
Throughout the day, we were blown away by the Scarletts’ curiosity, teamwork, and creativity. Their ability to ask great questions, share ideas, and collaborate reminded us exactly why we believe in supporting the next generation.
We were humbled to receive this wonderful feedback from David Barclay, Vice Chair of Chipstead Football Club and Head Coach of the Scarletts:
“A hundred thank yous from Chipstead Football Club, the Chipstead Scarlett’s players and their parents on what was a great day with ClearRoute last Thursday.
Your initial support with the kit sponsorship was greatly appreciated. Your wish not just to be a name on a shirt and do some community outreach was admirable. Now you have hosted 18 of us at your office and volunteered your time and people to feed us, water us and teach, entertain and advise us – we salute you.
The biggest recurring theme of the day was the variety of roles required to make a business run smoothly. That message echoes what our coaches tell the players at football: everyone brings something different to the team. Everyone is valuable. The diversity of skills and personalities is what creates our ethos and character. Your strapline, ‘We win together’, sums it up perfectly.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. At ClearRoute, collaboration and diversity of thought are what make us tick – whether that’s in software, operations, or sport.
We’re so grateful to David, the coaches, and the Chipstead Scarletts for spending the day with us – and to everyone across ClearRoute who helped plan, present, and inspire.
The future is bright, and if last week showed us anything, it’s that this next generation is full of potential.
We win together.
